Tasteful

I've decided to start a new meme. I think that's what they're called. I want to see how widespread I can get it. It's up to you guys out there. Do me proud.

The meme is called 'nekkid but tasteful butt pics'. Mine is below. Go on, follow my lead.

Tropical retreat

Over the week Chry dropped me an LM for a tropical island to check out. The Cocos Islands. She raved about it. A lot. So me and Iss pulled on our swimming togs and went for a wander to see what all the fuss was about.

What we found was a palm tree-laden drop of paradise. Hummingbirds flit from orchid to orchid while the call of parakeets counterbalances the jabber of monkeys high in the canopy above, all competing with the roar of a distant waterfall. Where better to crash and talk for a time?

We lay back against a young palm, the buzz of insects permeating the warm breeze. We gazed out to sea watching cotton-puff clouds dance with the horizon as the lazy palm fronds bounced above our sweat-dewed bodies.

Later, we explored a little and diced with nature. Down by a beach camp fire a slit of a cave mouth opened to the caverns within, complete with a bat to disturb and a iridescent roof. Wandering from the golden shore, the cooling sea revealed a reef teeming with all kinds of marine life.

At this point I also discovered my AO has a 'swim'. Yay! Score!

Yeo party

Sometimes it's just nice to hang out with friends and dance a little, y'know.

I read an article by a professional journalist for a some big UK paper the other day where they created an av and entered the SLuniverse, just to see what all the fuss was about and stuff. You know, same old same old.

The reason I mention it that was that dancing was one thing they wrote about particularly, aswell as slex obviously. They said that they just sat around while watching their av prance around on screen and would have rathered watch paint dry.

Tired cliches aside, I think that anyone who enjoys hanging out with friends and dancing a bit inworld would conclude that the journalist was clearly doing it wrong.

Cooking for two

I went to check on Buckley the other day at Jewellah's over on Yeo and felt a bit peckish so sorted myself out some bangers on the barbie while I was there. The ever-attentive mutt came to watch, and to await for escapee snags, no doubt.

Going cheep

Despite all the bad press about world domination and crack-like levels of addiction I have been following the story of Nika's chickens avidly. They're spreading like virulent boils and everyone is hatching eggs and cooing over fluffy chicks it seems. Alicia's at it, Rylan's at it, Felicity's at it, everyone's at it...

To be honest with you, I am finding it hard incredibly hard to resist. But why though? So they're hatching, growing, reproducing chickens with a bit of AI thrown in and a taste for expensive food. But what makes them so addictive? I didn't even know until just now that the grown-up chickens are all different colours and you can blend colours by encouraging hens and roosters of different colours to reproduce but I still want some. I am drawn like some SL moth to a chicken-farming flame.

I like to imagine Sion Zaius, destructive mastermind, like some evil Bond baddy in his volcano secret hide-out, stroking a bald cat.

Good boy

Say hello to Buckley, ma li'l puppy dawg. He's just gorgeous. He's currently staying with a friend and her dog, Grovey, because I hate keeping him locked up in my inventory. It seems so cruel.

Random hellos

One of the first reasons I got into this blogging lark was to meet other people. Some of the people I spend most time with now in SL I met via blogs. Just searching for blogs, looking at blogrolls, linking through to other blogs, and sticking comments on blogs. And then sometimes I might send a quick IM inworld to say "hello, I like your blog". It's been a great way to meet new people to chat to and become friends with.

And I love it when people do the same to me, through my blog. Or via my blog. It does happen sometimes too. You know who you are :)

But that's not the point of this post. It is not a call for random hellos and shouts of affirmation. No, really, it's not. It's not!

It's about me saying hello to other people and those people being lovely. Like last night, for example. There is a fashion blogger that I decided to say hello to (hello, Marianne!). It's mainly women's stuff she writes about so to be honest there isn't a lot in it for me (other than the occasional lingerie post - hehe), but I just felt compelled to say hello. Nothing to do with me finding her stunningly attractive, of course. Oh no. Definitely not.

I presumed, like with most people when I IM them, that I'd get a "this person is not currently online" message. But I didn't. And then, would you believe it, I got a reply. So I replied back. And she re-replied. And so it went on. And before I knew it we'd chatted for quite a while and I'd made a new friend. Yay!

I guess sometimes I kind of put other bloggers and designers and people like that on a pedestal. I assume that they're all really popular and have no time for new friends among the pleps...er...general populace. But sometimes, just sometimes, I'm brave enough to say hi. And when I do, for the most part, I find that they're just like the rest of us, and are actually normal people. And sometimes are quite lovely.

So here's your self-improvement task for today - IM a blogger. Someone you've never spoken to before. Go on. Do it.

Also last night I came across a dog-loving friend (no, not in THAT way, ya perv!) who said I can keep Buckley rezzed in her garden to keep her dog company while I am of 'no fixed abode'. How lovely, eh? I hate keeping the little fella locked up in my inventory. It feels so cruel.

Hang on, I've just realised I've not introduced you guys to Buckley yet, have I? I'll add that to my to-do list...

The survey says.....?

On Sunday I had some free time so was checking out some old LMs and deleting and sorting them and stuff. So here's me, randomly TP-ing around, not really knowing where I'd land. It never surprises me how often when I do that sort of thing I land near all sort of nekkid slexiness, but that's not the point of this post. It happens to us all, I'm sure.

But this one place I landed, and bear in mind I was getting a bit bored by this point, I decided to cam around a bit and see what was happening with the green dot I saw on the mini-map. Ooops, that's not one green dot, it's two. And that's either a strap-on or really badly colour-matched. But again, not the point of this post.

OK, so you get the idea. I land, I cam around, I find more nekkid nortiness.

But, this time, rather than leaving them to it, I decide to check out their profiles. Not sure why, I just thought I would.

And now, finally, we reach the point of the post. A moral dilemma. Y'see, in the bloke's profile, I saw he was partnered. And his profile text was declaring all sorts of undying devotion and dedication, fidelity and for eternity stuff about his partner. But, and I am sure you can see this coming, the lass he was with was not said partner.

I was left with a dilemma. I weighed up all my options and decided what to do. But I want to see if my response is typical of you lot out there. So I am doing a survey. Reply to this post and let me know what you would have done in my shoes.

The scenario is as above, you're me, what would you do?
a)   Turn a blind eye - it's nothing to do with you so you'd leave them to it, good luck to them, and TP out of there as quick as your clicking will permit
b)   IM the fella - "Wahey! Good on ya, fella. What the little lady doesn't know won't hurt her"
c)   IM the fella - "Erm, excuse me, but is that sort of behaviour really a correct way to carry on given you're partnered?"
d)   IM the lass - "Oi, y'whore! You know he's partnered, right?"
e)   IM the lass - "I hate to be a damp squib, but just in case you were not aware, that bloke with his bits up your bits has a young lady elsewhere in the grid"
f)   Take a photo and send it to the blokes' partner - letting her know what her partner's getting up to while she's elsewhere
g)   Take a photo and send it to the bloke - with a request for cash. Lots of cash.
h)   Walk away - knowing my luck I'd interfere and then find out that the lass was an alt of the bloke's partner, or else they'd have a fully open relationship or something and then I'd just be stirring the crap for no reason at all and I just don't need the drama
i) Ask them if you could join in - there's a gap that needs filling, so to speak.
j) None of the above
I guess it all comes down to how vindictive you are. Or maybe how permissive.

Everyone, vote....NOW!

Homeless in pyjamas

This used to be where my living room was. But now it's not. It's now just an empty space. No sofa, no dog basket, no cockatiel perch, no pictures. All gone.

I've hadn't logged into SL for about a week, I landed in a field instead of my hallway. To commiserate I ended up hanging with the the lovely laydees Laleeta, Asthenia and Quaintly. There's nothing quite like sitting round chatting about Eurovision in your PJs is there?

Time shifts

It's hard to have something to write about when RL is such a cruel mistress that she demands all of your time leaving previous little (aka none) for SL.

When I first arrived in SL I had some spare RL time and so I filled it easily. If I wasn't in SL, I was blogging about SL, or plurking with SL types, or editing photos for the blog, or reading SL blogs. It was all encompassing. I had a gap and SL filled it. And more. It burst its banks, it ripped the seams, it poured forth and drowned some parts of RL. Or at least submerged them for a while.

But now RL is making a comeback. SL may have won the battle but the war is still raging and RL is launching a counter-offensive. I feel like a double double agent in the resistance. I am confused and not really sure which side I'm rooting for.

I have to put RL first, for a whole plethora of reasons, but I do wish there were more hours in the day so that SL got a look-in. At the moment the ref is giving SL a standing eight-count. Its legs are wobbly and its eyes are glassy. Will RL deliver the knock-out punch?

Ok, enough analogies and metaphors. RL is calling. She is a demanding mistress as well as a cruel one.

My blog deleted itself. And now it is back.

I blame the swine flu thingy.

Transition

I've been messing with computer apps today. Et voila. The favourable contents of my wardrobe - with fade.

Press play. The quality is better when it runs than in that static image, I assure you.

Arctic Monkeys

Saturday night is dancing night and a surprise trip inworld ended up with me and Iss donning our party frocks and heading out for a boogie.

It was like an episode of Dancing with the Stars, all twirls and lifts and spins and tippy-tappy stuff.

"Very artistics and graceful, capturing raw emotion and filled with both style and substance" said the judges. "10; 10; 9.7; 10"

And then we discovered some sexy dances...rawr!

And ooh, pretty pictures!

Oh, and 25p and a packet of jelly snakes to anyone who can tell me why I've titled the post as I have.

Getting a name badge

Well, my time is finally up at Starting Point. I've said before, but I'll say it again quite what a great idea it is. In case you don't know it's basically an apartment block where noobs can rent (for free!) a room for 80 days. I think it's 80.

To be honest it didn't quite work for me perfectly, as the time difference meant no-one was there hardly ever. It was nice to have somewhere to call home for sure, and I love the provision of a pool and a games room and beach and jetskis etc, but the place was mainly deserted when I was around. However, don't get me wrong, I would recommend the place to noobs. Especially given the helper group that exists.

When you are granted residence you join the SP group. And as part of this group you can just IM the group and one of the helpful volunteers will reply forthwith.

And now, the news, the reply you get may even be from me!

I've been asked to join the helper team and I happily accepted. Maybe I'll fill a niche if any other noobs in the bottom right-hand corner of the atlas ever move in to SP.

Oh, and as a subnote, I guess I should have known about TVs in SL after all. Given there's a huge communal one at Starting Point.
